Composite Program with Outward Bound

Composite is making a comeback to Haliburton Scout Reserve!

About Composite

Composite is a program that allows individual youth (age 10-17) to camp at Haliburton Scout Reserve with other youth members. This means youth are able to register individually to camp at HSR without coming with their own troop! Youth will get the full camping experience by putting up their own tents, camping their own meals, and keeping to their schedule (program activities, meals, etc.). Youth will be required to bring their own sleeping gear, mess kits, personal belongings, closed toe shoes, water shoes, and a great attitude!

Youth will be camping in tents, using kybos (outhouses), using camping stoves to cook meals, paddling canoes, and enjoying the great outdoors!

About Outward Bound

"Outward Bound Canada (OBC) empowers youth to discover their inner strength, build resilience, and take charge of their destinies. Our outdoor education programs are much more than just learning the technical skills of canoeing, kayaking or backpacking: They’re experiential adventures, immersed in nature and away from screens, designed for lasting impact that help young people discover their potential."

Outward Bound is operating this composite program at Haliburton Scout Reserve. Their staff are fully trained with tons of camping experience (including at HSR).

Who can Register?

Youth aged 10-17 can register for this program! Youth do not have to be members of Scouts Canada to register.

Scout troops can also register with this program (youth and Scouters) and allow Outward Bound to organize the planning and the logistics. Groups can show up and enjoy the week!

Register through Campbrain here. You will be required to create a new account to register your child for this program.

Cost

The cost for composite is $800. This includes camp fees, meals, transportation from Toronto, camping equipment, and Outward Bound staff with tons of experience.
